Mesut Ozil shared the first photo of his daughter Eda after his wife gave birth to their first child.
The Arsenal midfielder shared a heartwarming black and white photo on his social media, where he is seen holding his daughter while kissing the forehead of his wife, former Miss Turkey, Amine Gulse.
Ozil and Gulse are currently in lockdown as part of the coronavirus pandemic and the couple were left delighted that Eda was ‘born in a healthy way’.
Captioning the family photo, Ozil wrote: ‘Thank God our daughter ‘Eda’ was born healthy. God willing us to be a good son to his environment and all humanity.’
The couple got married in Turkey last year and will now push forward as parents.
There have been moments of panic during Gulse’s pregnancy given she was three months pregnant when herself, Ozil and Arsenal team-mate Sead Kolasinac were targeted by armed robbers while sat in their car in London.
But in their latest family photo, the loved-up couple appear far more relaxed as they received the well wishes from stars across football.
Arsenal team-mates Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette, Shkodran Mustafi and Kolasinac were among a host of top players to send their best wishes to the new parents.
While Eda represents a big change in Ozil’s life, his future at Arsenal, at the time of the league-wide suspension due to coronavirus, remains in a stake of flux.
His agent, Erkut Sogut, reiterated that the player is happy at the Emirates Stadium but that ‘you can never predict’ what will happen in future.
‘You never know in football,’ Sogut told Goal. ‘First of all, you can never predict the movement of players.
‘I have said it before and I am saying it again that he [Ozil] is really happy where he is at Arsenal. He is still has a contract to go and there is no change. We will see what the future holds when the contract ends but for now, there is nothing I can say.’
