Yusuf Mazai, a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) serving with Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) in Bauchi State, has trained 16 youths on electrical wiring and installation.The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Mazai trained the youth and hoisted the flags of Nigeria and TCN within the premises of the company as part of his Community Development Service (CDS) project.Speaking during the distribution of certificates to the trainees as well as the inauguration of the flags in Bauchi on Friday, the Bauchi State Coordinator of NYSC, Alhaji Namadi Abubakar, appreciated the corps member for imparting knowledge in youths.Represented by Mrs. Gbemisola Salami, Assistant Director, Community Development Service (CDS), Abubakar said corps members were expected to make their host communities better than they met them.He urged the staff of the company to take good care of the project, calling on the trainees to build themselves more on what they had learnt to benefit the society.Earlier, the Batch A corps member with registration number BA/21A/2033, said carried out the project because Bauchi people were loving and accommodating, and he had to go round and research on how he could be of help to the state.He explained that he first engaged himself in voluntary teaching at Government Day Secondary School, Kofar Eid, Bauchi where he was taught basic technology.Mazai said asked the community leader of Kofar Eid to give him some youths to train on electrical installation and house wiring.“The community leader gave me 16 youths whom I trained for a period of one month.“They can do electrical house wiring and equally trace an electrical fault in any house.“Even after they were given certificates of training today, I will still keep imparting more knowledge in them until the end of my service year,” he said.He called on the trainees to make sure the put the knowledge acquired into practice and also train others to be like them.One of the trainees, Isiaka Mohammed, who appreciated the corps member for his kind gesture, also applauded NYSC for giving them the rare opportunity to learn through the corps member.He added that none of them would have been able to afford the money to be spent to learn the skills elsewhere.
